Computer Science Honor Society

Computer Science National Honor Society is an organization designed to promote equity, service, and excellence in Computer Science.

As a founding member of the Mason Computer Science Honor Society, I had the unique honor and responsibility of setting the precedent for the society's conduct, roles, responsibilities, and more. So, when I wrote the 2022-23 Mason Chapter bylaws and helped develop the society's organizational structure I made sure to keep in mind the society's three value goals: equity, service, and excellence.

These are the same goals that I kept in mind when developing and executing my flagship project for the society, an after-school enrichment program where 4th-6th graders could explore computing concepts like AI, Cybersecurity, and Robotics and learn programming skills in block-based and text-based environments. In order develop and execute this program, I led a team of 11 society members to develop the curriculum for this class, create supplemental learning materials for the students, and execute the administrative responsibilities of creating such a program.

Thankfully, due to our hard work the program was a success. I was personally able to teach over 40 students, 100% of which responded in a poll they were interested in pursuing technology in the future.

Because of this success, I was asked to lead the 2022-23 Executive Planning Committee. In this role I continued to grow the society by adding 12 new events and an annual full society retreat.
