UC Economics Society
UC Economics Society is an organziation designed to connect UC students to economics in the present day.
As a computer science major, I felt like a fish out of water when I joined the Economics Society. Although economics wasn't my main area of study, I was always interested in the subject and saw it as a great opportunity to expand my knowledge.
Joining the economics society is one of the best decisions I made during my college years. It was actually through the economics society that I learned about the Cryptoeconomics lab for the first time. And it is because of the economics society that I decided to add an additional major in economics. I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have had with this organization.
Highlights:
- Developed Bearcat Economists, the society's inaugural economics outreach program designed to broaden the local pipeline of economics students and professionals, specifically from historically underrepresented groups and inspire a lifelong love of economics in these students
- Engaged in business case competitions, optimizing workflow efficiencies using real budgets and data from P&G, saving the hypothetical business 1.2 million dollars year-on-year
